The Roland S1 compact synthesizer allows you to "Draw" the shape of a waveform by numerically adjusting 16 points along the wave's cycle. This utility offers a visual representation of the waveform that users would be familiar with, and allows the shape to be adjusted graphically on a desktop browser.
The S1 data for sound and sequence "patches" is stored in a human-readable file format (.PRM). These can be accessed by connecting the S1 to a computer and booting it like an external drive.
In the .PRM file for a patch, the Draw settings are 8 lines that begin with 'OSC_DRAW_PX =', where X is a number from 1 to 8. You can copy those lines and paste them to replace the default INPUT DATA above.
Adjust the shape of your wave by dragging the dots up or down, or clicking on one dot then using cursor up/down to ajust its value by 1.
Each time you make an adjustment, the OUTPUT DATA field will be updated to reflect what your new Draw Wave data would look like in the PRM file.
The easiset wasy to preview a waveform sound is to enter the data values for each point into your S1 while in Draw mode.
The data values are the 16 numbers listed at the bottom of the wave graph.
Additionally, the Roland S1 allows you to Backup and Restore PRM files, and you can use the OUTPUT DATA to modify your PRM files.
